Well, hello there after quite some time.
Hi! Welcome to my newsletter in the journal section. This is a way for me to update you on some of the fun things I am doing and, I’ll be honest, it keeps me creative.
Many of you I have been lucky enough to meet over the years at different events and most recently at the annual “Art in my Garden” in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Oakville is a sweet town along Lake Ontario that I have called home for the last 15 years. Or maybe I met you at the Urban Sketchers Germany Meetup that took place in Stuttgart, Germany from September 12-14. Or maybe I met you on the bus or in a grocery store? Yes, I love to meet people and connect.
However I met you, I am glad you have taken the time to see what I am up to.
So what have I been up to? Well, after 20 years of being a full-time mom, I am officially an empty nester. Of course my kids still have space in the nest but they have flown off to university in Canada. One is on my side of the country but in Montreal (McGill) while the other is in Vancouver at UBC. Oh, and my husband works in Stuttgart which is what brings me to Germany quite often. We are all over the place but what does that mean for me? Well, I can focus fully on being creative and I haven’t done that since I was about 5 years old.
Art has always been a part of my life with time spent waxing and waning over the years. I never trusted myself enough to take the leap of faith and pursue it in full although I was lucky to a have a few jobs that were creative and my squirrelly brain always kept things fresh and new. But now, with a couple of years creating my watercolors, I can focus fully on creating.
From December 4-6, I will be participating in the second Square Treats art show in Oakville curated by indomitable Rachel Williams. There are some incredible artists and I feel so lucky to be among those selected to participate.
And I am excited to be working with dalbacovadesigns. We are working to create some beautiful pieces in a collaboration for the holidays. You’ll love what Sayana and I are doing!
I will be continuing to sketch and paint and am excited to be in New York City with SJ Axelby for a watercolor workshop again in early November. Four days in NYC. Just me, my sketchbook, a day of painting with SJ (and other Room Portrait Club friends) and definitely visiting museums. Yes, I am looking at you, The Frick, because you are back home after a massive renovation!
So, that’s the update from my end. Keep in touch via IG or even here on my page via messages.
I wish you the most wonderful day and as a friend once said and now I need to: keep chasing sunsets.
Love.
